Mango, Mango, Mango!

This year’s Ataulfo mangos just hit Whole Foods. The texture of these mangos are not as delicate as the champagne mangos, but they are full of flavor. We used our OXO Mango Pitter, and it is still making the cut. The slicer makes it really simple to cut up a mango. It may leave a little more around the pit, but it is almost a tie compared to cutting the mango with a knife. I always eat any mango that clings to the pit anyways, so nothing goes to waste.

  1. I love my mango slicer. It was less than $10 and makes cutting mangos so much easier. If I am not doing anything special with the mango, I take a spoon and simply scoop out the fruit and eat it.

  2. I am completely in the same boat on the mango pitter. There is no good reason to have one, yet it thrills me to no end. Sorry about the mango allergy!

    • another way to enjoy this particular mango which requires no cutting and makes it easy to take to work, is to beat it up, roll it around like you would a lemon before juicing, squish it, then bite off the top and you can simply suck the whole mango through the top. no mess, easy to take for lunch. This does not work well with other mango’s.

  3. Alas, this mango looks delicious and your mango pitter is one of those completely-unnecessary-things-i’d-love-to-have.

But I am an unfortunate soul, and developed an allergy to mangos a few years ago. Even now my face itches from having eaten one of these on Monday.

ENJOY YOUR MANGOS WHILE YOU CAN!
