Cowgirl Creamery Comes To DC

Cowgirl Creamery just opened their second cheese store… and it is in Washington DC. We went to go scope it out and get some goodies!

Cowgirl Creamery is among the top American cheese producers. They make award winning soft cow milk cheese. They are best known for their Mt. Tam cheese, which I have seen mentioned in many books.

Their DC store is located at 919 F Street NW and easy to reach from the Gallery Place / Chinatown. We went one day after work and had no trouble finding it. In addition to their own cheese, they have a variety of other cheese, the amazing great bread from Breadline and some fun looking sodas. They are going to be adding wines and some tasty deli meats in the future too. Basically they have everything you need to put together a nice little picnic lunch and are close enough to work to the Mall.

We ended up getting both the Red Hawk and the St. Pat. I LOVE the Red Hawk, you gotta give it a try! The prices are a bit more than Whole Foods, but think the quality seems a bit better. I have gotten a few cheeses from Whole Foods that probably should have been sold sooner. Carolyn thought the shop was “cute”. A stop by the shop could be a great way to start a date! … not to be cheesey!
